The more things change the more they stay the same

I graduated high school in 1976. It was a fairly large graduating class of almost 400 students. There was the "usual" amount of bullying and the standard bullshit that you see in some schools today. Of course there were some clicks still but I walked pretty freely among both the "heads" and the "jocks." I was usually stoned but I played football and did other sports as well so most people from both groups didn't much bother me.

Fast forward to last night and a FB page that was supposed to be for our high school reunions. I'm very vocal about where I stand on things and lean pretty far to the left politically. But not on that page or this one for that matter. Until last night when the meme that someone posted offended a few of us. Nothing like a bunch of 60 + year old's flexing internet muscles at each other debating what's offensive and tasteful to get ones blood pumping on the 4th of July. It was just like being back in school again. And I couldn't help but think, have we not evolved at all in the last 44 years?

A good questions to ask your classmates is how many books they have read since graduation. That is where you will find your answer.

That's very true, and what kind of books as well.
